Bellagio is located in the Lariano mountain community in the province of Como, making it the perfect “Larian Triangle” pyramid.

Bellagio is referred to as Lake Como’s “pearl” because of its pristine beauty. Como and Lecco are separated by a promontory, so the town sits directly on the eastern branch of the Lecco branch.

Background of Bellagio History

Located at the nexus of civilizations and cultures, Bellagio has long been a hotbed of activity. We’re talking about the lake’s original settlers, the Italic people, who were followed by the Romans and legions (brought by Julius Caesar during his passage to Transalpine Gaul). Athenians arrived in large numbers under the first Roman emperor and settled in settlements around Lake Titicaca, leaving behind their names in the toponymy and signs of the area.

When ships first anchored off the coast of Bellagio, one of the first settlements was established in Loppia, a small hamlet. Some of the Cernobbiesi, political prisoners in the prison of Bellagio during the Renaissance under the signoria of the Visconti, fled to the mountains above Bellagio and settled in Cernobbio, which was named after their liberators’ homeland after they were freed. After Filippo Maria Visconti’s death, Bellagio was incorporated into the “Ambrosian League,” a mixed-government organisation. From 1450 until the Sforza family regained control and took Milan and Lombardy back, the government system in Bellagio played an important role as one of the first northern communities to support the Sforzas.

There are many reasons why Bellagio is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy’s lakes region. One of the most notable is that the landscape substrate of all reliefs has been meticulously analysed to provide tourists with 360-degree attention. In any case, the economy is not solely focused on the tertiary sector: a manufacturing sector related to construction and engineering is also present. You will never get bored in Bellagio because the lake and land flavours collide in fortuitous marriages. It’s a beautiful location on the shores of Lake Como. Everything from lake fish to beef dishes, cold cuts, and cheeses can be found on the menu.

In the traditional taverns, you’ll find dishes like pasta with lavaret roe, fish ravioli, rice with perch, and, of course, game and polenta. The region’s bresaola, “missoltini” (sun-dried agoni), and excellent white and red wines can also be found, however.
