Madurodam Miniature Park in The Hague: A Comprehensive Guide

Great place for kids and families in The Hague, Netherlands

Basic Information About The Park

Introduction

Nestled in the heart of The Hague, Madurodam Miniature Park stands as an emblematic representation of the Netherlands. The park, with its intricately designed miniatures, beckons tourists to indulge in the Dutch experience on a scaled-down level. For those intrigued by this unique attraction, we’ve delved deep into the most common questions posed by visitors.

Madurodam, inaugurated on July 2, 1952, is a miniature park in The Hague’s George Maduroplein, showcasing the Dutch landscape and heritage at a 1:25 scale. Annually, this renowned tourist spot attracts approximately 600,000 visitors and sprawls over 62,630 square metres, with its intricate city models occupying 17,630 m². Both Legoland Billund and Disneyland Park in Anaheim drew inspiration from the distinct charm of this tiny replica town.

The foundation of Madurodam was generously funded by the parents of George Maduro as a heartfelt memorial to their sole son. George served valiantly as a cavalry officer but tragically lost his life in the Dachau concentration camp in February 1945. To the Maduro family, this miniature city stands as a poignant homage to their beloved George.
