Jockvale Elementary School is located in Barrhaven, Ontario and serves approximately 400 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The school offers both English and Early French Immersion programs, and is proud to be a member of the OCDSB’s Community of Character. The school’s motto, “Jockvale…Where We Belong,” speaks to the welcoming and inclusive environment that is fostered for every member of the Jockvale community.

Jockvale is situated on a large, beautiful campus with plenty of outdoor space for students to play during recess, physical education classes, and school-wide events. The school also has access to a nearby forest, which is used for outdoor education and nature walks. In addition, Jockvale is within walking distance of the Ottawa Public Library, a swimming pool, and an ice rink at Walter Baker, providing students with opportunities to be engaged, healthy, and active. The school has a strong partnership with John McCrae Secondary School, where many Jockvale alumni return as co-op students and WITS/LEADS leaders for junior students.

The school’s dedicated staff and School Council offer a rich academic program, as well as a variety of extracurricular activities in athletics and the arts. As 21st century learners, Jockvale students are encouraged to set high standards for themselves, develop positive work habits, and become responsible and respectful members of the global community. The school places a strong emphasis on helping students develop the skills and characteristics outlined in the school’s Exit Outcomes, which are integrated across all curricular areas.
